A-Thermal’s medical waste treatment and medical waste disposal options:
Burn technology: Waste is fed into a kiln at 850°C. The waste is fully oxidised, leaving an inert ash product. A scrubbing system cleans the flue gas before being discharged into the atmosphere.
Non-burn technology (autoclave): Our non-burn medical waste treatment method, managed by our technology partner, Cecor Allied Technologies, provides our clients an alternative treatment method to burning. Except for anatomical waste, medical waste can be treated through non-burn technology. The unique form of non-burn technology using an autoclave treatment facility is a more environmentally friendly and efficient method of medical waste removal. Autoclaving waste involves high-pressure stream injection into the medical waste treatment vessel. This elevates the temperature of the vessel. This is maintained for a period, and tests are performed on each run to ensure complete sterilisation of the health care risk waste (HCRW).
According to local legislation, the HCRW is then shredded to ensure it is no longer recognisable.
