  • OPTIMIZATION OF WASTE PROCESSING AT A-THERMAL

A-Thermal have completed a project that optimizes the waste storage and treatment processes.  Our personnel are trained to measure, monitor and record the characteristics of hazardous waste that is delivered to A-Thermal.  Some of these characteristics include details of the pH, nature or phase, flash point, calorific value and reactivity of the hazardous waste.   The […]

  • RECOMMISSIONING AND UPGRADE OF HEAVY METAL RECOVERY AND TREATMENT PLANT

A-Thermal is also licensed to treat heavy metal waste using a Heavy Metal Configuration Plant.  Our technical team were involved in the recommissioning and upgrade to the heavy metal configuration plant.  The plant utilizes thermal desorption technology to heat and volatize heavy metals and organics in the waste streams.  The facility has a recovery unit […]

  • TREATMENT OF PCB (POLYCHLORINATED BI-PHENYLS) WASTE

Location: Olifantsfontein, Gauteng A-Thermal’s Thermal Desorption Plant complies with US EPA 761.70 requirement for the treatment of PCB’s.  The treatment plant can achieve a 99.9999 % (six 9’s) destruction of all PCB waste.   We specialize in the treatment of PCB Transformer Oil (with concentrations up to 4,000 ppm), Capacitors, contaminated PPE and whole PPE. Our […]

  • TREATMENT AND RECOVERY OF MERCURY WASTE

Location: Olifantsfontein, Gauteng A client had over 430 tons of Mercuric Chloride Catalyst that required treatment.  We were able to treat the mercury waste using our Thermal Desorption and Mercury Configuration Plant. Mercury with a product purity of 99.9 % and the activated carbon were recovered for the client to re-use.

  • SOIL REMEDIATION

Location: Wadeville, Gauteng A-Thermal was also responsible for remediating a 2 hectare site in Wadeville that was contaminated with Aledrin (a pesticide that is classified as a Persistent Organic Pollutant).   Over 5,200 tons of contaminated soil was remediated using A-Thermal’s Mobile Thermal Desorption Plant. The remediated soil was sampled and analysed to ensure the complete […]

  • SOIL REMEDIATION

A-Thermal undertook a major in-Situ Soil Remediation Project in Durban.
The site was contamination as a result of a leaking pipeline of leaded fuel. During the site inspection, it was evident that the soil and the groundwater was significantly contaminated. The nearby residence were evacuated as a precautionary measure due to health and safety concerns (primarily due to exposure).
